After 9/11 the American way of life changed profoundly.
Our country responded to a threat so great, so dark, it horrified us.
It is an unfathomable menace that has left fear in our hearts.

Since that time, our troops have been fighting this war on terror.
Soldiers are away from their families, friends, and homes.
Husbands and wives are separated for great lengths of time.
Daddies miss their baby's birth. Mommies miss "first moments," too.
Dad's and Mom's miss a son or daughter.

And still, our soldiers don their uniforms proudly and serve.
Uncomplaining ...

To our beloved soldiers who say goodbye and head out
to a place far from home in the line of duty ...
this quilt is a small way to say Thank You!
